The Misfit Chronicles continue....... 02/15/09
Hello to all the Misfits!!
The cloudy day with the threat of rain neither dampened our
spirits nor stopped our ride! We'll save the Mt. Dora trip for another
day-hopefully right after the 68th Bike Week. We saddled up after
breakfast at the VFW and headed west out to Turtlemound Road and a scenically
serpentine ride via the back roads to S.R. 192. We had more than 20 bikes
despite the dicey weather! Then it was "west bound and down" out "into the
great wide open." We took a side trip down the quaint single lane road
past Lake Lizzie. The people there greeted the Misfit line of bikes with
their usual good humor, waves, and vehicles pulling off to give us the right of
way. Cool! (I think Victoria even picked out another house for her and
Mark!) Then another invasion of the Silver Dollar in St. Cloud ensued. We
filled up the front parking lot with Misfit bikes and kept the lone barmaid
busy. None of our ladies got on the pole this week-nuts. With the
clouds deepening, we fired up our scoots and headed up Nova Road enjoying the
countryside filled with cows, horses, sandhill cranes, and a big dose of
serenity. Our final stop was one of the Misfit favorites, Lone Cabbage
Fish Camp. When the Saddle Band cranked it up, Rocky favored the crowd
with another table dance. All the other Misfits were sorta kinda well
behaved-well, maybe not! It was a short run of a bit over 100 miles, but I
think everyone enjoyed getting some seat time together 'fore the rain came.
Misfit news-Steve's finger is mending fast, and
hopefully next ride it'll be as good as new. He also is sporting a new tattoo
of his family (Morgan) crest on his right forearm. Mark and Victoria were back
riding with smiles today after getting over their illness from last week. Betsy
was also back and brought her friend Evelyn of Women in the Wind with her.
Rowdy Bill had friends in from up north, and it was good to meet Cathy and Ron
and have them ride with us. Larry had his wife Maryline with him today, and it
was a pleasure to meet her. Danny brought his roommate Jennifer along, and she
rode with him on his tricked out Softail. There are many beautiful Misfit
bikes, but you have to take the time to check out Danny's. It is a true work of
art. Curtis was back, albeit briefly, after partially solving the hydraulic
issues with the lift system on his Yamaha chopper. Even though Rich Haymes had
his grandson's second birthday party to go to, he still rode with us all the way
to the fish camp. Hopefully he still got home in time to join the birthday
celebration. Even though John had said that he couldn't make it this week, it
was a great surprise to see him on his bike at the HESS. Good riding with you
as always, John! Rick and Darlene were back riding this week-we missed you guys
and glad to have you back! Trish, nice to have you back and hope your brother
will enjoy the picture at the Silver Dollar of you and your Softail. Hey, I
meant to tell you that the Melbourne VFW was so impressed with our group that
they asked for a copy of our group picture so they can throw darts at it at the
post! No, seriously, they want to put the picture up on their bulletin board.
I'll close this section with the hope that David was successful on his "booty
call." We missed him on the ride!
Rob and Cindy, hope the camping was good and that you
can come back and ride soon! Terry and Peggy, we missed you this week. Ray,
how are the ribs and when are you coming back? Marty, let us hear from you; you
are much missed! To all of you Misfits that haven't ridden for awhile, just
remember that we ride every Sunday, weather permitting, and hope you can get
back in the wind ASAP. Lastly, welcome to new Misfits Cathy, Ron, Evelyn,
Jennifer, Maryline, Michelle, and Stan!
