Hello Misfits
The good weather brought out the Misfits in force and away we went into the
great wide open! We met @ VFW, chowed down, and lets go! After gassing up
at 7-11 @ Post Road, it was off on about 160 mile ride into the interior.
Welcome to new Misfits Ann, Deanna (Ann and Deanna are from Women in the Wind),
Joe, Randy, and Steve! Great to have you with us and hope you'll come back often. Rob and Cindy
would have been with us, but a fender problem necessitated a trip to Space Coast
H-D for some warranty work. Fred, where did you go? One minute you were sitting on my
street ready to go and the next minute, you took off. Oh well, hope to see you
next week. Also missed Bonnie due to work-miss you, honey. Via the back roads, we got to S.R. 192, and then it was west bound and down all
the way to Holopaw. Then we went south on 441 to Kenansville where we stopped at the Red Gator Lounge where proprietor
Patricia greeted us warmly. From there we rode northwest on Canoe Creek Road,
stopping briefly at the Heartbreak Hotel. The building was built in 1902 as was the old
bank across the street.
On up Canoe Creek past open fields, cows, horses, and forests rode the Misfits. When I wasn't dodging buzzards, I was really enjoying the scenery and camaraderie of being in the wind with our inimitable group. Rowdy Bill was on my right, and we smiled at each other thinking of Wyatt and Billy riding along in "Easy Rider," the iconic biker movie from 1969. He had Kay with him this week; welcome back, Kay! Some turns later, and we lit at the Silver Dollar for some R&R. The final stop was Lone Cabbage. It was another great ride! Don't forget the ride next Sunday to Bonnie's Dockside. It will be a good one. Also don't forget that the Cancer Relay for Life is April 5th. I'll be sending reminders via Ken. Have a good week, everyone.
