There's a group of people who get together at the VFW on Rte. 1 near Post Road. Sunday mornings around 9 AM they start rolling in for b'fast. After eating they head out for the day's ride preplanned and led by Pat. Pat leads the ride and keeps a log of where they go and takes group pictures of places visited. I will be posting Pat's ride write-ups and pictures here.
The Misfit Chronicles
continue......02/08/09
Hello Misfits!!
Sunday morning had us a bit worried what with all the cloud
cover and chilly temperature, but hey, let's ride! The bulk of the Misfits
roared south to VFW from HESS where we linked up with some who rolled in from
other points. Then it was the usual disruption of VFW as we got some anti-freeze
(coffee) and some grub. We pretty much take over the porch area, and it is quite
a sight when we roll in 20 bikes strong with engines blasting. The folks @VFW
always welcome us warmly though and appreciate our patronage. It was so good to
have Betty, Debbie, Rowdy Bill, and Patti back riding with us this week, and
Holley is on the mend and was riding her always eye catching pink voyager setup
Sportie. Steve and Tasha were able to join us for breakfast, and we will be glad
when they can arrange to ride with us the whole day. Steve, take care of your
hand and hope your back is feeling better. Terry brought Peggy this week, and
with no mechanical problems, we got to enjoy a long ride together. Also welcome
to new Misfits Danny, Gary, and Kevin! Come back soon and often. Danny rides a
neat tricked out 100th Anniversary Edition Softail and Gary had a 1984
Sportster. When the horn fell off on our ride, he managed to catch it with his
foot in mid flight!
After breakfast, it was gas up @ 7-11, then kickstands up
for the ride south to Archie's. Curtis, sure hope nothing is seriously wrong
with your Yamaha chopper. The hydraulics caused problems at 7-11 we know.
Because of the Music Marathon in Melbourne that tied up both causeways and
Riverside Drive, we had to take a detour over Pineda and thence south on A1A. We
made it south to Melbourne Beach making most of the lights. The sky also cleared
off and presented us with some welcome sunshine. Once south of Melbourne Beach,
the ride really got nice with few stop lights and gorgeous views of the Indian
River Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean that was an almost luminescent blue. We
slowed it way down going over the Sebastian Inlet bridge with Misfit heads
swiveling side to side to take in the panoramic view ('cept maybe Terry who can
do with out those high bridges!).
At Wabasso, we stopped at the little roadside store by the
ocean to stretch, get some drinks, and socialize. The proprietors greeted us
warmly as usual. Once people get over their initial shock, they like the Misfits
okay. We even had two bikini clad girls ride in on horseback! You never know
what you're going to see on one of our road trips.
Then we continued on to Archie's in Ft. Pierce. It was
sunny and warm when we pulled into the parking lot. Parking was an adventure
since the place was packed with other bikers and too many cages. We took our
infamous Misfit picture right out front-and it's "another Misfit classic" don't
you think?! After relaxing at Archie's, checking out some of the other bikes and
visiting the ocean, it was off to Earl's for another stop. That place was jammed
again. I think every one in Indian River County that owned a motorcycle was
there and the other residents went out and bought one! We all had a good time
together once again.
A few wishes for some of you we haven't seen for
awhile....Ray, it's been three weeks; when are you coming back? Marty, it
doesn't seem right with you not riding; when can you join us again? Rob and
Cindy, know you're busy, but we miss you coming with us on your beautiful blue
Ultra Classic. Same goes for Randy and Denise. John Abbey, when you get back in
town, come out on your new "09 Heritage. Hey Jim, when are you riding again?
Sammy, don't be a stranger; come out and ride. Rick and Heidi, we miss you.
Trish, come on back. Joe and Michelle, are you out traveling again? Joey, when
are you coming to ride? Anyhow, those mentioned and unmentioned, we hope all is
well with you and that you can ride with us again soon.
Some of you have asked for a new destination. If the
weather is good this coming Sunday, let's do the Mt. Dora ride. This ride
consists of bucolic scenery, a beautiful ride around Lake Dora and Tavares, and
stops at the Hideaway on Lake Harris and the Jam Inn on the way back. The final
stop would be the old favorite, Lone Cabbage. I'll send more details later this
week.
